This article provides important information to individuals who want to redirect or forward their Middlebury email to an alternate e-mail provider. Forwarding and redirecting are strongly discouraged because of security issues and loss of functionality.
Important Considerations and Limitations
- Faculty and staff should not forward their e-mail to outside addresses as this creates security and privacy concerns.
- E-mail distribution lists that have special permissions (such as class lists) do NOT work from external accounts! You must log on and use your Middlebury account to send messages to these lists.
- Mail that moves beyond your Middlebury mailbox is no longer accessible by our server staff. This means we cannot remove known phishing/malware messages for your protection, nor assist you with email recovery or investigation of other problems.
- Never forward multiple Middlebury accounts to the same external account.
