INB and Windows Live Toolbar

INB & Windows Live Toolbar

This note addresses issues using INB when the end-user has installed the “Windows Live Toolbar.”Additional testing should be conducted to support HelpDesk troubleshooting and to provide content for our GO/INB common problems FAQ.

PROBLEM: User reports problems with INB; they are navigating in Forms, perhaps using a search feature, and their Form and Browser Windows just disappear. There may be other scenarios, but so far this has been observed to occur without any warning (no error messages). The problem may be reproduced from the GUTGMNU Form and clicking the drop-down button to search for a Menu

CAUSE: The user has “Windows Live Toolbar” installed and enabled.

RESOLUTION: Disable the “Windows Live Toolbar” components via Internet Options, Programs, Manage Add-Ons.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: The “Windows Live Toolbar” is offered with MSN Messenger as an optional install. It provides a pop-up blocker and tabbed browser support, among other features. It uses Java, which I am assume to be in conflict with the Java in use with INB.

I was unable to find specific references to this on Oracle MetaLink. SunGard does offer an FAQ with a slightly different scenario. Google didn’t find anything.
