Move Your Files From MiddMedia to Panopto

MiddMedia is being replaced with Panopto. For more information, see our blog post Panopto is replacing MiddMedia and Muskrat. You can migrate your MiddMedia files to Panopto or Google Team Drive. See the next section for information that can help you decide where to move your files.

Panopto vs Google Drive

  • Panopto is best for media files which:
    • are needed for courses and course-related work
    • or need to be shared with the public
  • Google Drive is best for:
    • archival storage of videos
    • media files that don’t need to be shared publicly
    • media files that need to be shared within your department

To move your files from MiddMedia to Panopto

  • Login to MiddMedia and review the video files stored there. Download any video files you would like to keep and upload them to Panopto.
  • Visit our Panopto help page to learn how to upload your files to Panopto.
  • Update any web pages where you’ve embedded or linked the MiddMedia videos.

To move your files from MiddMedia to Google Drive

  • Login to MiddMedia and review the video files stored there. Download any video files you would like to keep and upload them to Google Drive.
  • Visit the Google Drive documentation to learn how to upload files to Google Drive.
  • Update any web pages where you’ve embedded or linked the MiddMedia videos.

Microsoft OneDrive

Microsoft OneDrive can also be used to store video for personal purposes, however OneDrive does not have unlimited storage. Both Panopto and Google Drive allow for unlimited storage, which is important as media files can be quite large and can easily take up your quota.
