Play a sound file over multiple slides in PowerPoint

How do I play a sound file over multiple slides in a PowerPoint presentation?

In Powerpoint, you can specify when a sound file should stop playing. For whatever reason Microsoft considers this a "Custom Animation" property. Follow the directions below (taken from the PowerPoint Help files) to specify how many slides the sound file should play for.

Custom Animation:

  1. Right-click on the speaker icon that you inserted into your power point slide (this represents the inserted sound file), click on Custom Animation
  2. In the Custom Animation task pane, click the arrow on the selected item in the Custom Animation list, and then click Effect Options.
  3. On the Effect tab, under Stop playing, select After, and then set the total number of slides the file should play on.
