(NOTE: A booking and a hold are two different things in Sierra.  Place a HOLD to have a book held for a specific patron.  Place a BOOKING on equipment for a specific patron for a specific time in the future.)   To add a booking in Sierra:

  1. Pull up the patron record of the patron who wants to place the booking
  2. Click on the "Bookings" tab on the left side of the patron record
  3. Click the "Add a booking" button in the middle right of the screen
  4. Search for the item you want to book by title, call number, or barcode
  5. Select the specific item you want to book, or select multiple items by clicking while holding down CTRL and clicking, then click the "Book selected items" button above the item record
  6. (OPTIONAL) Add an event title
  7. Do not limit by location
  8. Enter the wanted to and from dates.  Include a time if needed.  (NOTE: if you try to book something for TODAY, after noon, there is a bug that will change the time to AM and will more often than not prevent the booking from suceeding.  Best to just use the date without a time if the booking starts today.)
  9. Click OK
  10. Close the search window.  Booked items should now appear in the patron "Bookings" tab.
