Internet Explorer reuses windows when you open a shortcut. This means that, say you're in webmail composing a message, Internet Explorer will reuse your window (effectively closing your webmail session) when you try to open another Internet Explorer session by using a shortcut (on the Desktop). To prevent IE from reusing windows you can follow the instructions below. Preventing IE from reusing windows, also allows people to have two or more concurrent INB Banner windows.

With version 7 of internet explorer there are two separate changes that need to be done:

# Open Internet Explorer, click on Tools (top right corner), then click "Internet Options"

# Under Internet Options, click on the General tab

# Under the General tab, in the section titled "Tabs", click on "Settings" (near bottom of window). A window titled "Tabbed Browsing Settings" will appear.

# In the section "Open links from other programs in", choose "A new window", then click OK. Do not close the Internet Options window yet.

# Click on the Advanced tab (top right corner)

# In the middle of the advanced tab is a large box with a scroll bar. In that box, find the section called "Browsing".

# Under Browsing find "Reuse windows for launching shortcuts..." -- REMOVE the checkmark next to this option (if the checkmark is already gone, there's no need to change it).

# Click OK

With version 6 of IE, there's only one change:

# Click on the Advanced tab (top right corner)

# In the middle of the advanced tab is a large box with a scroll bar. In that box, find the section called "Browsing".

# Under Browsing find "Reuse windows for launching shortcuts..." -- REMOVE the checkmark next to this option (if the checkmark is already gone, there's no need to change it).

# Click OK

This should allow you to open two concurrent Internet Explorers in separate windows.
