You can check the capacity/free space of your main disk by following these steps:
 
# Click on your Desktop
 
# Click on the menu titled "Go" (top middle of the screen)
 
# Click "Utilities" (the Utilities folder will open)
 
# Double-click "Activity Monitor"
 
# In the Activity Monitor window click on the Disk Usage tab on the bottom. Details on the space free and space utilized will be displayed.

Check your disk space in Windows

  • Windows XP and earlier:
    • Open "My Computer" (by double-clicking on the My Computer icon on the desktop OR on the start menu).
    • Right-click your local disk C and select "properties", details about the disk space will be displayed on the 1st tab.
  • Windows Vista:
    • Click on the Start button (lower left corner), click on "Computer"
    • Right-click your local disk C and select "properties", details about the disk space will be displayed on the 1st tab.
