* MacBook (black/white) – plug-in the video adapter (white dongle) to the laptop. Connect the VGA (analog/blue) cable to the dongle.

___ The Entourage Config Utility will auto-launch – customers should verify that their name and username are correct, then click “Configure”. There are a few options for imaging the computer.
 
 
 
NetBoot: simplest (currently not working):
 
* You need to find a network jack that’s in subnet 19, plug-in the computer there, turn it on and immediately hold the letter “N” on the keyboard.
 
* Follow the on-screen instructions.
 
* If it’s not working, try Target disk mode.
 
 
 
Target disk mode. You will need access to:
 
* the Mac that needs to be imaged
 
* another Mac that has a working operating system (a.k.a. the “spare” Mac)
 
* the image (resides on the mac server called bigcat). The distribution team can help you copy this image onto the spare Mac.
 
 
 
# Log in to the “spare” Mac.
 
# Click on the Finder icon on the Dock. From the “Go” menu at the very top select “Utilities”.
 
# In the Utilities window double click on “Disk Utility”
 
# Use a firewire cable to connect firewire port of the Mac that needs to be imaged to the firewire port of the “spare” Mac.
 
# Connect the Mac that needs to be imaged to a power outlet.
 
# Press the power button on the Mac that needs to be imaged and immediately press and hold the letter “T” on the keyboard of the Mac that needs to be imaged.
 
# Continue holding down this letter until you see the firewire logo on the screen of the Mac that needs to be imaged.
 
# When you can see the firewire logo, the hard disk of the Mac that needs to be imaged will appear on the Desktop of the “spare” Mac and in the Disk Utility window.
 
# In Disk Utility click on any of the disks listed there and then click on the “Restore” tab
 
# When you click on the “Restore” tab, the middle of the window will have a field where you can choose the image.
 
# In the field named “Source” click on the “Image” button and select the image.
 
# In the Disk Utility window drag the hard disk of the Mac that needs to be imaged (the yellow icon) to the “Destination” field. The new yellow icon is usually named Macintosh HD and is not to be confused with the grey Macintosh HD icon which may represent the disk of the “spare” Mac.
 
# Make sure that there are checkmarks next to “Erase Destination” and “Skip Checksum” (if they are there and available) and click on the “Restore” button. You will be asked for the admin username and password. Enter them and click “OK”. The imaging process will take 15-30 minutes.

For whatever reason, you may need to rename, re-join or reassign a computer. Follow these steps:
