Get a system profile in Mac OS X

  1. Click on the Apple logo in the top left corner of your screen.
  2. Click on "About this Mac" (a small window will appear)
  3. Click on "More Info" (the System Profiler will appear)
  4. Click on the "File" menu (top left corner of the screen), then click "Save As". Next to "Save As" type in "yourname-system-profile". Next to "Where" select your Desktop. Click Save. This puts a profile of your system into a text file.
  5. E-mail the "yourname-system-profile" file to the helpdesk.

Get a system profile in Windows

  1. Click on the Start menu => Click on Programs (or All programs) => Click on Accessories => Click on System Tools => Click on System Information => Click File => Save As, choose your desktop, name the file "yourname-system-profile".
  2. E-mail the "yourname-system-profile" file to the helpdesk.
