LIS Website Visual IA (opens as powerpoint file)
[Team, Edit this diagram here middfiles:\orgs\WebMakeover\LIS\LIS Website Visual IA.ppt]
This document focuses on the IA for LIS content built in Drupal. As seen in the diagram, there are many connections between the LIS pages built in Drupal and LIS's Wiki and Blog pages, and these two platforms are acknowledged briefly at the end of the document. Though not explicitly acknowledged in this document, links to other important platforms also exist (i.e. SubjectsPlus).
LIS Search landing page
This page will be the landing page for the search term "LIS" and will be linked to from the library pages, the wiki and the blog. It is a single page with the primary purpose of directing users to appropriate content that exists elsewhere.

Curricular Technology
Section | Description |
---|---|
Uses |
This section answers the question, "How can I use curricular technology in my instruction?". The bulk of this content would exist in the Drupal site, with links to the tools documentation for hardware and software that support these uses.

Tools |
A list of hardware and software we support which can be applied as curricular technologies. These sections would link to documentation, either in Drupal, MediaWiki, or provided by the vendor for their use.
|
Buzzwords |
We often receive requests like, "I want to set up a wiki that lists postings in reverse chronological order and allows people to comment on the postings." This section of the site will address requests like this by explaining the difference between wikis, blogs, and other technology buzzwords so that the requestor can understand that they would be much better served using a blog in the example above. |
Stories |
This section will aggregate stories of people using Curricular Technology at Middlebury (for instance: it would have a feed from the Teaching with Technology blog) and other institutions. Visitors to the CT site will use this section to see examples of how the knowledge from the other sections has been applied. |

Cross-LIS content
All staff working on the creation of the LIS website should identify content that is relevant in more than one area of the site. In creating web content, staff will create content directly related to their LIS function. All others should link to this content to avoid duplications. Individuals working on site creation are responsible for coordinating the creation and use of such content with the appropriate people.
Some examples of this type of content are film screening requests, loaner equipment.
