Remote Desktop Connection is a way to run your computer, access files, etc. through another computer in another location. Your computer needs to be plugged into the Middlebury network and be left running in order for you to connect successfully.

Requirements

  1. Valid internet connection on both computers.
  2. Have the right settings on the host computer.
  3. Have Remote Desktop Connection application on the other computer.
  4. Have permissions.
  5. Knowing Computer name or ip address.

Common Problems

Internet does not work on one of the computers

You can search the wiki for more info on how to have an internet connection.

Remote Desktop Connection is not enabled

Fix:

  1. Right click on My Computer and choose Properties.
  2. Choose the "Remote Tab" and enable Remote Desktop Connection.

Firewall Blocks it

  1. Go to control panel and choose Windows Firewall.
  2. Click on the "Exceptions" tag and make sure that "Remote Desktop Connection" is checked on the list.
