To begin
  1. Open CONTENTdm Project Client

  1. Create a new project if you haven't already
  2. Create a metadata template (left column) for your project with default information for the following fields Edit metadata template.PNG
    • Physical description: leaves
    • Year: 2012 (or current year)
    • Degree: B.A.
    • Language: English
    • Genre: Theses
    • Rights: Copyright retained by author.
    • Collection: Scholarship at Middlebury
    • Type of media: text
    • Digital format: application/pdf
    • Cataloger: [your initials]
  3. In left column of Project Settings manager, click Processing
    • Under PDF File Conversion, choose "Do Not Convert multiple-page PDF files to compound objects"

Add item (one at a time)
  1. Click Add item from left menu
  2. Specify file: browse to Middfiles folder (usually \orgs\LIS\NITLE DSpace)
  3. Click Add button
  4. At the summary window, you should see a message that the item was added successfully. Close window
  5. Double-click item
  6. The title field should have the file item ID in it (e.g., s10econ2012jones). Copy and paste it into the Identifier field
  7. Replace with correct title and then fill in the rest of metadata
  8. To view document, click the View button in left column under thumbnail of page 1
Upload item for approval
  1. When finished adding all metadata & closing, you'll return to the porject tab/screen.
  2. Click Upload for approval
