Exchange Online Protection provides several tools to help manage spam. <span style="color:red">Messages in your Quarantine should be treated with special caution as they have been tagged as spam or bulk email by Microsoft's email security controls.</span> Do not click '''any''' links in these messages or release them to your Inbox unless you are absolutely sure that the message is legitimate. Be particularly suspicious of messages asking you to update your account, reset your password, expand your email storage quota, etc. Remember, any message that asks for your password or username is not to be trusted. ====Quarantine Overview====

Messages identified as bulk, spam or potential phishing attacks are delivered to a separate Quarantine area.  Microsoft will send you a daily ''Spam Notification'' email if any of your messages are directed to Quarantine.  These notification messages are sent from '''quarantine@messaging.microsoft.com'''.<br>

You can check your Quarantine at any time by logging into [http://go.middlebury.edu/quarantine '''http://go/quarantine'''] or [http://go.middlebury.edu/spamq '''http://go/spamq''']. Messages identified as spam will be stored in Quarantine for 15 days, after which time they are automatically deleted. <br>

====Releasing a message from Quarantine====

You can release a message from Quarantine by logging into the [http://go.middlebury.edu/quarantine Quarantine web page], then using one of the following methods:

*Click on the message in question to select it, then click on the envelope icon to release the message.

*Double-click on a message in quarantine to open it, then click the “Release…” link.

You can also click on the ''Release to Inbox'' link in the Spam Notification message to release specific messages.

====Reporting a false-positive====

Messages may occasionally be incorrectly identified as spam. To report these "false-positives", log into [http://go.middlebury.edu/spamq Quarantine], double-click on the message to open it, then click on ''Release selected message(s) and report as false-positive…'' link.<br>

You can also use the ''Report as Not Junk'' link associated with a given message in the Spam Notification email.<br>

The Microsoft Spam Analysis team uses false-positive reports to tune their spam content filtering service.<br>

'''Important Note:''' Reporting a message as a false-positive will not necessarily prevent that sender from being blocked again. In order to allow future messages from that sender to bypass your Quarantine and Junk Mail Folder, you should add that sender to your 'Safe Senders' list in your Outlook client or Outlook Web Access (aka WebMail).
