NTLM vs. NTLM 2: Vista defaults to a specific network security protocol and, by default, won't accept anything older than that. You can change this: go into the registry editor (needs admin privileges), navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Lsa, set the DWORD variable "LmCompatibilityLevel" to value 1 (create the variable if it wasn't there), then restart the computer and you should be able to connect to our servers as you can on XP.

Here's a sample registry file that does this change automatically:

Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Lsa]
"LmCompatibilityLevel"=dword:00000001
