When withdrawing titles due to weeding or lost items, the following steps will keep Midcat and Serial Solution's Summon discovery service in synch:

  1. Do not delete the bib record when withdrawing something. Change b-code 3 to “d” (delete). This suppresses the record from the public catalog and notifies Summon when records have been deleted.
  2. Delete item records
  3. Update OCLC holdings.
  4. After we have sent our update file of deleted records to Serials Solutions, the MARC records marked "d" can be deleted.
