These instructions are for use with College-owned computers running Windows 7.

 

Connect to Network Printers

  1. Click RTENOTITLE in the bottom left of your screen
  2. In the search field at the bottom of the start menu, type \\walnut (or \\spruce for language schools printers), then press the Enter key to view the full list of printers.
    • TIP: Save time using the exact printer name. Just type in \\walnut\printername (e.g.\\walnut\lib242), then press the Enter key -- and you're done!
    • If you are unsure of the printer name you can use the search field at top right.
  3. Double-click a desired printer to install it.
    • Click the Install driver button if prompted.


Repeat the above steps for each printer you would like to add, then following directions below to set your default printer -- the one you will use most often.
 

Set Your Default Printer

Follow these steps to be sure the printer you use most often is selected as your default printer:

  1. Click RTENOTITLE then select Devices and Printers in the right-hand portion of the menu.
  2. In the Printers and Faxes section, the green check mark indicates the current default printer. To make a change, right-click the desired printer then select Set as default printer from the pop-up menu.

 

Remove a Network Printer

You can easily remove printers you no longer use, as well as ones that refer to the obsolete Bombay printing server. Here's how:

  1. Click RTENOTITLE then select Devices and Printers in the right-hand portion of the menu.
  2. In the Printers and Faxes section, right-click on the printer you wish to remove, then select Remove device from the pop-up menu.
    • Printers that contain Bombay in their description should be removed.
  3. Click the Yes button to confirm the printer's removal.


Repeat the above steps for each printer you would like to remove.
