Revision as of 08:57, 24 September 2009

Dear Michael and Kevin: I would like to propose a meeting for Yuwei, Renee, and me with Alison Byerly. I have also indicated our interest in each of us meeting with students in separate meetings. I, for one, would like to meet with students interested in the following topics: (1) human security/non-traditional security; (2) international migration; and (3) Asian Studies to discuss what MIIS has to offer in these areas in terms of course work, faculty expertise, internship opportunities, and conference opportunities. I also would like to meet with faculty who are interested in these topics to explore possibilities of joint research projects, conference opportunities, and grant/fundraising opportunities. Finally, I would like to learn more about Midd's program at ICU, Tokyo, and how and what I might be able to contribute to it.

Agenda suggestions

 Tsuneo,

Thanks for including this with the wiki. I've abbreviated the suggestion on your agenda page. Faculty meetings are coming together. Student gatherings are a challenge, not least, because it's Parents Weekend - beginning Friday. I defer to the department heads. You may want to check some course listings in Poli. Sci. to see if there's a fit and/or professor who may be willing to invite you to the class. ~K

Open Meeting with Midd Students

Further to my student comment - we're scheduling a 5pm meeting through Career Services (who handle graduate studies interests by students) for an "Open House" meeting on Thursday at 5pm. All three MIIS colleagues would attend. ~K

Thank you, Kevin. Will I have an opportunity to meet with Michael one-on-one for 30 minutes perhaps between 9:30-11:30 am or 3:00-4:40 pm on Thursday? -- Tsuneo

Send Materials

9/23 - Helpful hint: send materials, if so desired, for group meetings. Personally, I think references to the website are best but I can imagine there may be instances where you want to leave something. You might mention this to Renee' and Yuwei.

Materials can be sent to:

Dear Kevin: If you can arrange a meeting for me with Professor Stephen Snyder, that would be great. I can then ask if I can meet with students interested in Japan or Asia.
