Timeline

  • Deadline: January 5 (J-term classes begin)

Immediate Possibilities

  • Revised CSS theme w/new logo (Install on MIIS server before Holiday break: Kristen)
  • Basic Course Template Development (ideally, load basic course templates into the course request form; if not, make them accessible in Course Settings as options)
    • Two basic templates complete, needs a little dress up (Bob)
  • Default course settings updated for ease of use
  • Upload some generic files for general use (headers for each program, etc.)
  • Personal profile settings override course settings when it comes to tracking/flagging new items - change default profile settings to track new items
    • Personal Profile < Show Advanced Options < Turn Retracking On

Research & Development

  • Develop Help Desk strategy for Moodle questions & course requests
    • Course request process - revise the form and info for Help Desk routing
    • Consider using Google forms to upload a batch course request as a .csv file
  • Bob will work with IT to determine the source of the course back-up / restore problem we continue to encounter [solved by Trinidad]
  • Kristen will work on the development of a new Moodle theme for roll-out by J-term. She is using a [non-MIIS dev site] to work on this.
  • Trinidad will work with Kristen on establishing admin / ftp access to the current Moodle server
  • John and Trinidad will establish a dev server space for TLC and Help Desk to experiment with newer versions of Moodle platform
  • Revise the course request form for ease of use and routing through the Help Desk (Kristen, Bob)
  • Revise default course and user settings, specifically:
    • user default tracking posts setting should be turned on by default (Sarah's suggestion)
    • tie-in possible course templates to course settings selection
  • Researching off-site hosting costs with Moodlerooms (Bob, John G)

Faculty/Training

  • Sarah and TLC Team (Edie and Anna) will coordinate a training time (early Dec) with Greg to get him up to speed on Moodle Basics (including user mgmt, course request process, FAQs)
  • Edie and Anna will develop basic 'out-of-the-box' course templates that can be adapted for new courses
  • Bob coordinate with TLC team on Dec and Jan Moodle training schedule for Dean Assts and faculty

Moodle 1.9 Upgrade

  • Upgrade to newer version of Moodle 1.9x - hold off until Summer 09
    • delaying the upgrade will allow us to discover problems before faculty do
