What is Podcasting?
A podcast is a media file that is distributed so that an audience can easily access and download the file for portable use. PERSONAL ON DEMAND! Unlike broadcasting, podcasts are available to you all the time. You can subscribe to podcast shows, episodes or files and download them to your computer and mobile device such as iPod, some phones, etc. iTunes is the most popular podcast viewing platform. In other words, podcasting is a method of distribution.
For creating podcasts on Mac and Windows, audacity is a free audio recording and editing program. You can edit multiple audio tracks and create a dynamic podcast.

For information regarding podcasting from Arizona State University's iTunes U space, please follow this link. They have easy to follow .pdf files (in the form of comic strips) that lay out the basics of podcasting from developing your project concept, deciding how to distribute your media file, and also hardware solutions that you may want to consider based on the dynamic of your project (i.e. interviewing a subject, capturing a lecture and audience questions, producing a recording studio style production, etc.) http://deimos3.apple.com/WebObjects/Core.woa/Browse/asu.edu.1503084604
