19th Century Russia

Example.jpg

Our group’s plan involves embedding information about the history and culture of nineteenth-century Russia in an image of a bar room in St. Petersburg. It will have a picture of Alexander II on the wall, and icon in the corner, a map, forbidden journals under the counter, etc. We can replace the stools on this sample image with chairs. Clicking on elements of the picture will link to information, which we will try to make not-too-verbal. Maybe we can get a prostitute into the scene, and something involving a table of ranks, and some souvenir of the Decembrists.

An invaluable resource for this type of preoject is Hingley, Ronald. Russian writers and society, 1825-1904 New York : McGraw-Hill, [1967]
